Fantastic Tour
Fantastic tour! In looking to book a private tour to visit my wife’s ancestral home, a colleague of mine (a former professional travel agent) conducted some research and thought that Gateway to Ireland Tours could provide exactly what we were seeking. The experience exceeded our every expectation. From the moment we first contacted Diana at Gateway to Ireland, we knew we were in good hands, Diana asked what we were looking for in a tour then tailored our itinerary just for us with excellent suggestions of what to see and do. She researched my wife’s family heritage well in advance of our arrival, then suggested sites to visit based on her research. Those sites were very meaningful to be able to visit and without her we probably would have never known about them! Diana was very knowledgeable about Ireland as a whole and she was able to provide a lot of historical background at each place we stopped. This tour was the highlight of our trip! I would highly recommend this firm if you are looking for something extra special on your visit to Ireland!

My husband and I spent a week in Ireland. We were based in Dublin but knew we wanted to go out to the surrounding counties as well and knew we didn’t want to deal with the hassle of trying to drive ourselves or be stuck with a large group. Couldn’t have been more pleased with Gateway to Ireland Tours. Diana was easy to deal with and provided us with wonderful guides. They were able to personalize things to our tastes. We did an intro to Dublin tour the day we landed so we could get a feel for the city and were provided excellent tips. We did private day tours to Golden Vale, Medieval Marble City and Boyne Valley during our stay and couldn’t be happier with our decision. Ray and Majella were wonderful and if we have the opportunity to return to Ireland I hope to see/work with them again!

We went to the Glendalough Monastic Monument, followed by a wonderful and refreshing hike to the Wicklow mountains. We were blessed with good weather. The guide was a great listener, and suggested hiking instead. The hike was rewarding, the views were stunning. Afterwards, we had tea at Powerscourt. I highly recommend this particular tour!

Fabulous Day Trip
Diana was fabulous! As we were in Ireland, unsurprisingly, the forecast called for some rain. Diana did a great job rearranging our day to ensure we maximized the sunny time during our outdoors portions! She did a great job summarizing the history of each location we visited as well as the modern day significance. She picked out a great spot for lunch and had a table reserved so we could get in quickly! Powerscourt is a must see for the garden and water fall! We really enjoyed seeing some of these harder to access sights near Dublin. It was an awesome day and very easy for us!

From the moment we contacted Diana, she was amazing. She responded to every email we sent promptly and helped us create the perfect itinerary based on our must see list. She was very knowledgeable in the history of the places we visited and gave us the perfect amount of time to explore each location. We went to Guinness Lake, Ballinastoe Woods, Wicklow, Glendalough, and Powerscourt Abbey. Highly Recommend.

Amazing Tour
I had a wonderful tour. My guide (Majella) was knowledgable, engaging, and fun! She knew all the tips and tricks to make the tour memorable and was also understanding of our specific needs and desires. Wicklow Mountains Day Tour
We booked a private day tour in the Wicklow Mountains and had an amazing day with our guide Diana. Pre-trip communication was clear and responsive to my questions and requests.
We visited Glendalough and hiked along the Wicklow Way above Lough Tay (Guiness Lake), which was the main request for the day from the teens in our party. Diana found us a nice vegetarian restaurant for lunch and when our afternoon plan was not met with the expected enthusiasm from the teens, Diana graciously switched gears (and set aside the research she had done for my original request) and came up with other suggestions, which earned a 10/10 from the teens.
I had never used a driver/private guide before and it was a splurge. Diana made it worth it and I won’t hesitate to hire her again on our next visit to Ireland!

Ancient cairns with the wonderful guide!
We had a fantastic experience with Gateway to Ireland. It was amazing to stand on top of the hill by the Loughcrew Cairns and see so many counties stretched out before us, all while learning the history and legends known about the Cairns. I really recommmend a tour that includes Loughcrew, if your group can handle a short but intense uphill walk.
Our guide, Diana, was so kind, knowledgeable, and flexible (we had many questions and some scheduling snafus!). We couldn’t recommend her or Gateway to Ireland more. The company was so responsive to our needs. Thank you again for an unforgettable time!

Brian was a wealth of history and knowledge of the area and the many generations of families who lived in each area and village we visited.
Brian also stopped off a grocery store for us before dropping us off at our late check in AIRBNB.
